Artist's Comments

I was browsing through "Blade of the Immortal" stuff this afternoon, so the urge to attempt yet again Anotsu Kagehisa came over me. I made do without reference because I was in the bookstore tonight, which had no manga on hand for me to glance through. I also haven't done a pencil piece in a while, so I had fun with my HB and 2H and 5B.

Aside from the fact that Kagehisa's forehead is Sakura-big (Naruto), I think this one's getting there compared to the first one. Trying to make him attractive without taking away from his masculinity like how Samura depicted him was the tricky part.

Thanks, Christine. I was telling myself to push the values on this towards the end, but understanding the structure of the face really made this one possible. I'm ready at this point to try just about anything.

really beatiful pencil rendering- would love to see more like this in fact. :)
:iconmayshing:
try a different style perhaps then? :D
If you are practicing to be illustrator
I would like to see the ability for
different styles as well as one signature style,
that will make you worth more money ha ha

Just something I thought of, take your time step by step.
Your recent improvement is a leap.

Thanks, Eric! :) I guess whenever I need a change from pen-and-ink, I'll be jumping into pencil.

Hee. All the more practice, no? I can think of a few artists to emulate for a time just to break out of my standard style. Should be fun.

Oh, I am taking it step by step. They're just all culminating into that one huge leap. Whatever I'm doing, it's helping, so I'm gonna continue doing it.
